THIRD QUARTER

Jan.-Mar.

Religion

Our work in Religion class finds us in Unit 2, entitled God gives me people to love-family, friends, teachers, and neighbors in the community.

We will learn that Lent is a time to change and grow in love for God and others. We will plant seeds and watch for signs of change and growth. We will receive ashes on Ash Wednesday.

Valentine's Day will give us an opportunity to show God's love to others, and explore the theme of friendship. We will enjoy our last class party with the help of parents who so generously give their time to come and help us!

We continue to pray the rosary for peace.

READING

The students are doing great with reading! We have 18 words on our vocabulary list! Please be sure to review and add new ones as we do new stories! Remember, you can always check Family Times for the new words and activities to do at home!

Please continue to practice sounding out words with your child. This is a new skill for many children, and practice will make them familiar with the skill. This will be ongoing for the remainder of the year. We will be making word machines soon, to practice this skill also!

MATH

We continue our work on the numbers to 20, and counting objects. Please continue to review the number words to ten-this are tricky for some students.

We will explore the concepts of Addition and Subtraction.

The idea of working together and cooperating with each other will be emphasized. As always, your reinforcement of these ideas is encouraged.
